The SoVous Med Spa New York IPL Laser is a Lumecca. The Lumecca is an advanced new generation device that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to selectively target and treat skin conditions through selective photothermolysis. Because of the broad spectrum of the IPL light source this device is unique, as opposed to other lasers, in the ability to filter the light spectrum to target various chromophores (colors) in the skin.
Optimized for light and dark skin, the Lumecca IPL Laser increases the potential for clinicians to treat a variety of skin types and conditions ranging from facial pigmentation, superficial vessels and redness, skin textural issues and/or photo-damage from the sun. A cooling tip is used to protect the skin in contact with the device and decrease any discomfort. Lumecca can be used to deliver a photofacial or even to improve sun damaged skin on the body such as the chest, arms, hands and legs.

After your treatment your skin will be slightly flushed. Flushing will progress to a suntanned look as sunspots or vascularities will become slightly darker. If your treatment was directed towards photo-damage, pigmented areas will flake off over 2-3 days (slightly longer on the chest). If your treatment was directed towards redness and broken capillaries, you may see larger vessels become darker as the body resorbs them and smaller vessels may disappear immediately. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun and exfoliative skin care agents during the 2 weeks following your treatment.
