The Juvederm Ultra solution will be injected beneath the skin. The number of injections varies depending on the number and size of areas that are being treated. The entire procedure takes only 20 minutes, and you will be free to return to your regular daily activities immediately.
Recovery from Juvederm Ultra injections is extremely minimal. While you will be able to return to work or other activities immediately, it is recommended that strenuous exercise, makeup, alcohol consumption, and sun exposure are avoided for 24 hours. Some redness, tenderness, bruising, or swelling may occur at injection sites but should subside within seven days.

Mild side effects may occur including redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, itching, discoloration, firmness, or infection. These side effects should subside within 7 days, though infections may require antibiotic treatment.
Juvederm Ultra is a safe and effective treatment option for adults of all skin types and tones who are interested in adding or restoring lost volume or reducing lines and folds in the face. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive Juvederm Ultra. Patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy may be at an increased risk of infection.
Patients should avoid taking any medications which may inhibit the blood’s ability to clot including aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen for at least one week before treatment. Supplements such as St. John’s Wort, primrose oil, ginseng, vitamin E, and ginkgo Biloba should also be avoided. Topical anti-aging skincare products containing retinol, retinoids, tretinoin, or glycolic acid should be avoided for two days leading up to treatment, as well as bleaching, tweezing, waxing, or hair removal cream. Alcohol should be avoided for 24 hours before your treatment.
